DODGERS TAKEOVER

COMMUNITY

LOS ANGELES, CA (2017)

CLIENT ASK: Celebrate Latino culture through the lens of sport, art and movement

AGENCY: On Board Experiential

ROLE/RESPONSIBILITY: Ideation, Production Coordinator

To celebrate Mexican Heritage Night, Nike partnered with the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation to bring the community together. We commissioned LA based muralist David Flores to create a special mural in his trademark style that would grace both the new Nike community store in East LA as well as the greatest ballpark on the planet - Dodger Stadium. We hosted a community art show Thursday at the East Los store. Prior to the event, we supplied four local Boys & Girls clubs with art kits they used to illustrate what LA meant to them. We followed this up with a kids 5K run around Dodger Stadium the following Saturday.

To know me is to know my love for the Dodgers runs deep. When I was presented the opportunity to work on this project there was no hesitation. This was my first big project being able to lead in my new role as Production Coordinator. I was able to drive and curate ideas around the art kit and how we would display them for the art show. I was able to build a strong relationship with the client and David Flores who I still communicate with regularly til this day. With Nike taking over the baseball apparel business I can see many more projects coming in the near future.

TRADEMARK PATTERNS

Early samples of David Flores’ Print. We had a lot of back and forth on which pattern to use and almost went entirely monotone with the grey rendition.
